The re-test for the "Test Structure Test" will be this Friday, 1/31. Please make sure your parent signs your re-test letter. 2) Language Arts: We are working on contractions within sentences. Please complete pages 1 and 3 in the packet that we started in class. Spelling Lesson 21 Test in on Friday, 1/31. Today we talked about Kobe Bryant, his basketball legacy, and a poem he wrote called: "Dear Basketball." We compared how the poem's impact from how we read the text aloud, to the video of Kobe Bryant reading the poem aloud. We talked abut our feelings, and how we could be inspired to find our passion and never quit reaching for our dreams.
We also did research to begin the final steps of creating BranPop Movies on famous leaders of WWII. Students will be finishing and presenting their movies next week. Homework: Reading: Continue studying vocabulary week 17 words for a test this Thursday, 1/30. Students have until Friday to turn in classwork. Language Arts: We will start working on contractions in sentences tomorrow. Students received Week 21 words for spelling; the list is under the "Spelling" tab. Great news! I just found out that my recycling project grant was funded by Cobb EMC today! This means I will be able to purchase recycling bins, as well as containers for every classroom at Powers Ferry. Next, I will start a recycling group with students so we can start our recycling program (paper, plastic, and cardboard) ! I am so excited for this project to begin! Thank you @cobbemc!

Reading: Finish the Venn diagram on "The American Flag." Find three differences for each article to write in the Venn diagram. We will complete the writing portion tomorrow. **Tomorrow is Vocabulary 16 re-test at 7:15am. You must have your parent permission form signed to take the test. Language Arts: Spelling Lesson 20 test tomorrow; turn in your classwork. Their, They're, There on activity #40 in your packet. A newsletter went home today; it can also be found under the "Newsletters" heading above.
Homework: 1) Reading: We started a new vocabulary lesson, #17 today. We worked on defining the words, and determining their antonyms. There will be a 1-question antonym quiz on Thursday, January 23rd. 2) Language Arts: We started a new spelling list, #20. The classwork is due Friday; Test Friday, January 24th. Grammar: practice synonyms with page one of packet (circle the synonyms for three words). *Don't forget! Tomorrow is Awards Day for Quarter 2, from 9:25-10:00am.
*Please turn in any remaining permission slips for January 16th field trip to the GA Aquarium. *Tutoring starts tomorrow, at 2:45! Homework: Reading: Read about the Wright Brothers and compare and contrast how the structures (problem and solution vs. chronological) help you understand the text. Spelling: Lesson 19 word list came out today. Please work on the assignment in class each day! Fridays are so much fun when parents join us for recess!
